Portrait with 3 ladies
We were all geared up for the portrait session and were hoping real hard that there would be great light with good weather. Well, the opposite came to pass. It was raining cats and dogs just before we started. What a session to begin with! No light, wet ground, limited time…and we have a portrait shoot with 3 ladies. We waited for the rain to stop and started off shooting in the shelter with the remaining time we have left.
It was the time where I also tested the Pocket Wizards FlexTT5. I’m relief that it worked as it should for the range I needed. I had the worst combination of flashes, the 580exII and the 430ex which RF interference was known to limit the new Pocket Wizard’s range severely. In most of the shots, I had my 580exII mounted on a softbox as my main light while the 430ex provided the kick light. The range extension method listed in Pocket Wizard’s website did help to extend my range, especially with my 430ex being the furthest from my camera.
Here are some of my fav shots from that day.
Make-up artist : Rachel Chun

There was a slight hint of a warm sunset during the end of day. For the two shots below, I had the main light gelled with a a full cut CTB and my white balance set to 10,000K to accentuate the sunset in the background.

Coco the Beagle..
I am still on a pursuit on shooting more film this year.
Here are some random shots of Darren’s dog Coco the hyper beagle.
Shots are taken with a Nikon F5 on Fuji ISO200 Film. the F5 is still an amazing camera after all these years. The AF is still spot on for a camera after so many years. This camera comes with 8fps. It’s even faster than some of the ‘other’ full frame cameras out there today
. Alot of people out there says that the F5 is the last of the Ultimate Film Camera.
Scanned using CanoScan 8800F.
Here are some shots.

The Beast
I have not stot cars for AGES…. Was helping Darren from Autodetailer for some strobist assignment he has. I didn’t shoot much as i was doing most of the driving from a front moving car.. where Darren was sitting in my boot most of the time taking shots
Here are just 2 of my shots.

The Band
All indian weddings can not go on without it
They are just as important as the priest who conducts them. They are usually made up of 2 members. One blowing the Nadaswaram and one playing the Tavil.
Here are some interesting shots of the ‘band’ from our recent wedding shoot.

Bali
I had a great holiday in Bali with my family and some friends last week. It was a moment that I’ve been waiting for, a real good break. The temperature was on the extreme..it somehow felt way hotter there. During the trip, I spotted some good locations for pre-wedding shoots. We may probably work-out a package for destination pre-weddings to this venue in future. Here are some casual shots from my trip..Enjoy.

The Hot Shoe Diaries: Big Light from Small Flashes

WOW.. Got this as a birthday present from wifey Allison but only arrived last week. She pre-ordered it in December from Amazon. This, my dear readers, is an excellent book to read. If you have not gotten a copy of Joe’s previous book The Moment It Clicks then shame on you
. This is his second book dedicated to Small flash application. There are also alot of tips and set up on Nikon’s CLS. We (Darren and I.. including Bernie who secretly loves the Nikon altho he carries around his Conan .. opps Canon camera everday and tells everyone how much he loves it) love how easy it is to set up Nikon’s CLS and we use them alot. Joe has this way of writing that even with his many many years of photography, the way he does things are mere suggestion or methods that worked for him, rather than what he says is THE ONLY WAY.
If you have not gotten hold of this book.. Or The Moment It Clicks, please go and get a copy. He is inspiring and also very practical in terms of down to earth ideas and technical know hows.
Family Birthday Dinner
Yesterday, my family gathered together to celebrate a triple combo birthday dinner. The birthday babies were my 83 y.o grandma, 30 y.0 Jo and 7 y.0 cousin Xin Xin. Grandma was so delighted when we got her to blow the candles. It’s just such a joy to see her smiling away

Happy Chinese New Year from us at CreativeClicks…..
It’s yet another long holiday for us to catch up with our family, rest and backlogs.
Promised myself not to take any photos and chill during this week.. But how can I resist taking a photos of Carissa in her cheong sam and pig tails..
So…It’s the year of the Ox.. May you and your love ones be prosperous and have good health..

And so it is 2009…What’s been happening?
Already 6 days into 2009.. what’s been happening to us in CreativeClicks?
We’ve been so busy doing up photos for all the couples we shot in November and December 2008. We have to apologize if we have not updated the web or any more new photos in the Blog. It will come…. one of my new years resolution.
We are really excited about this year. We feel a buzz in the air that greater things will happen.
We have some new ideas, some new visions and some new inspiration. One thing for sure, we will keep pushing ourselves to shoot better pictures everytime.
For those of you who do not know, our tag line is “Where Passion Meets Art”. Yes, photography is our passion. That is that fuels us to push ourselves further. What we capture, the moments that we freeze with our cameras is like a piece of art, drawing or sketch. Some has described photography as painting with light.
Let’s see what else has happened.. oh.. Darren and I celebrated our birthday in December. Kinda makes us feel older now.
I also recently manage to dig out my 1st camera that my dad bought me when I was a kid. It was a 110 format camera from Kodak. And my 1st shoot with this camera was actually a destination shoot.
I took it with me to London and Paris. Here’s what the cam looks like. I still have it with the external flash..

We hope you have a blessed new year and thank you for all the people who has supported us. Please leave us comments. Would be nice to hear from you guys. This year.. we will push ahead with our creativity and of course someone in our team needs new gears..:)
God Bless..

So.. it’s a quiet weekend for me
It’s a quiet weekend for me…Darren and Bernard are both down to Batu Pahat to cover a wedding. Using this time to catch up with backlogs and family.
Had enough time to set up my home studio and started playing around with one light source… Was inspired by looking at works from William Coupon.
As usual, my ever ready subjects are Allison and Carissa…
More to come tomorrow
hehehhe…
Just manage to get somemore photos up
You can see how cheeky Carissa is… Wonder who she got that from?
Boys with Cool Hair, Bukit Bintang
I was shopping around Sg Wang and Bukit Bintang today when my friend Radzlan told me that he saw a group of boys with really cool hair outside of the mall. So i went out to take some shots, and gave them my CC call card. Hope you boys find this website someday. You can find more pictures here.

Cooling off in Cameron Highlands
Looks like it’s Highlands adventures for us this month. Bernard went to Frasers and I went to Cameron Highlands instead. Thought of chilling out before the crazy year end weddings starts to come in..
Was a wet day on Saturday up in the highlands but still very enjoyable. We took a slow drive up and reached Brinchang just in time for tea. Checked ourselves into Century Pines Resort. A very nice place I must say.
We then had tea in the Smokehouse.. Excellent Scones served there. And followed by steam boat on a wet rainy night (At Highland Restaurant).. Most excellent for cold weather.
Here are some of the pictures from our 2 days spent in Camerons. Felt like staying up there and not coming back down to the rat race.

Frasers..
My wife and I had a weekend holiday retreat at Frasers Highland during our National Day break. We had a good time relaxing, running away from our fast paced and busy urban lifestyle. It’s definitely one of the places that I would like to visit more often. And as usual, I brought my cammy along just to bring back some memories.

Majestic view from the balcony

We stumbled across this unique plant during our jungle trekking session. The sunlight was shining directly on it, highlighting it perfectly.

My attempt on wildlife birdwatching. Here’s one of times where I wish I had one of those ‘bazooka’ long lens.

Posing for the camera…

thank god i was on leave, so when the dudes called me up to join them at J-One Photo in Amcorp Mall, i immediately agreed, for this is one little party i wouldn’t miss. so i brought my so-so camera to capture the moments. The results, as you can see in the previous post, is superbly superb!
The poison is slowly getting to me…oh dear. Til’ my turn to own one comes around, adios!
A pleasant upgrade for us…
We got hold of our D700 yesterday and am very excited about it. Manage to do a few trial shots before today’s studio session.
I must say.. the results are jaw dropping.. Below photos are straight out of camera,.. Just PS with watermark….. shot in a 50mm f1.8 Lense.
Darren will have more to post as he shot a concert today with his new cam as well. Am glad that we jumped on this full frame bandwagon…

Chilling out at Chiling Falls
It has been quite a while since I did an outdoor hike. Over the weekend, some of my church’s youth group members and I went for a waterfall hike at Sungai Chiling at Kuala Kubu Baru.

That’s me trying out some stunts..the water was deeper that I initially thought
